Fanny "Faye" Matilda Dagmar Hamlin was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on October 23, 1987.
In 2001, she released the EP Play alongside Anaïs Lameche, Anna Sundstrand, and Rosie Munter--this was the original lineup for Swedish pop group Play. With Faye more-or-less serving as lead vocalist, the group released 2 albums, including Play (2002) and Replay (2003), accompanied by several CD singles and DVD video releases. Although Faye left the group in 2003 to "further pursue her education," and was replaced by much younger vocalist Janet Leon, she was also featured on the greatest hits album, Girl's Mind (2005), which contained several of the group's most popular songs from their first two albums plus a version of "Another Love Story" featuring Fanny's voice instead of Janet's, originally appearing on the album Don't Stop the Music (2004). Girl's Mind was released just before the disbandment of the group's second lineup.
After leaving Play, Faye began to use her birth name, "Fanny." Fanny recorded a duet with Adam Appel entitled "Ready For Love." The song appeared on the soundtrack for the Swedish film Kärlekens Språk. She also did various modeling jobs and eventually signed with Synk Casting, a Swedish modeling agency, in 2006, and booked several print and digital ads throughout the years.
In 2006, Fanny met with former co-manager Matthew Knowles and former group members Anaïs Lameche and Rosanna Munter to make an attempt at reuniting Play. The girls were offered the chance to star in the second season of hit television show Made in Sweden in 2009, and agreed, Rosanna leaving the group at the last minute. Rosanna was subsequently replaced with Sanne Karlsson.
In November of 2009, Fanny, Anaïs, and Sanne made their first public appearance together, and their stint on Made in Sweden aired on TV4 in early 2010. Under My Skin, the trio's first and only album together, was released shortly thereafter in April 2010. The group's first single from the album, "Famous," did exceptionally well on the Swedish charts, staying at #1 for seven consecutive weeks, while the album itself peaked at #7. For the rest of 2010, Fanny toured Sweden continuously alongside her fellow Play-mates, in association with sponsors such as ELGiganten, Nickelodeon (Sweden), and Ungdomar. In the fall of 2010, however, news on the trio came to a halt, and it was finally announced on February 7, 2011, that Fanny was no longer a member of Play and had been replaced by Emilie Norenberg.
Despite her second departure from Play, Fanny has continued her musical career. She attended a launch party for Sweet Surprise Recordings in December of 2010, and in early 2011, a solo track entitled "My Place is Here" surfaced....
